Class Descriptions
Our hope for all of our classes is for you to have fun. The best way to keep frustration at bay when learning something new, is to laugh! There will always be music, ranging from new age to R&B to Rock and Roll! There is most likely someone new to yoga in class, so questions are encouraged. We want to build a yoga community; get to know your teachers and the person on the mat next to you.
For the absolute beginner, we offer a 4-week series to prepare your body and mind for the road to wellness. Our teachers will carefully introduce you to movement fundamentals, yoga postures and breathing at your own pace. This class meets weekly for 90 minutes.
An introductory flow-based class linking yoga postures with breath. The class will begin with breathing exercises; move through standing and seated postures; and end in a brief meditation. The postures will challenge your flexibility, balance and strength and open doors to a lifelong yoga practice. Sign Up.
A challenging series of 26 postures designed to systematically stretch, strengthen and restore health to every part of the body. This 90-minute program is performed in a heated room to facilitate calorie burning, flush toxins and accelerate cardiovascular action. Sign Up.
Our power flow class is a high-energy vinyasa class in which postures are linked to the breath. The consistent flow from pose to pose makes for a dynamic workout, increasing stamina and flexibility. We recommend at least 2 essential classes or a previous background in vinyasa before trying this class. Sign Up.
A class based in the traditions of yoga master BKS Iyengar. The method of learning postures and breathing is orderly and progressive, with attention to healthy alignment, and variations to meet the physical needs of each student. Participants gain a deep understanding and strong foundation in the poses, and learn different sequences to achieve specific results. Our prenatal classes focus on breathing exercises to help during labor and delivery; yoga postures to lengthen the torso and strengthen the pelvic floor; and restorative movement and stretches to ease pack pain and fatigue. All trimesters are welcome – dads too, and workouts will be modified accordingly. All classes end with guided birth visualization, leaving moms relaxed and thrilled for their new arrival. Sign Up.
Now more than ever your baby needs you to be healthy and happy. Our Mommy and Me class will get you out of the house and around fellow new moms. Bring your newborn to class and start getting your body back to health. Specific postures are designed to help you reclaim your core and strengthen your back and shoulders. This hospital-sponsored support group meets twice weekly in support of new moms needing to get out of the house and visit with fellow sleepless moms. A Valley Care Registered nurse will be there to offer help with breast and bottle-feeding newborns.
